Devlog#6:Sprint2_1

A lot of work got done during the Easter break; here's an overview of all new additions to the current build.

First of all, we replaced the environment's placeholder textures with permanent, handpainted ones. We might tweak these more in the polish phase. We now have a finished and textured model for the incinerator, and added placeholder fire particles until our own are finished.

The jerry can has been modeled and the other models and textures of our specials got a visual update:

The characters are now fully rigged and all animations (except walking) have been made; next week we will implement them in game.

Being stunned is now visualised with a particle effect.

A basic menu has been added that allows the player to start the game, view the controls, or quit the game.

The hud recieved an update: the current multiplier of the incinerators are added to the top of the screen. A numerical score of the points gained appears next to the progress bar, and the bar now dynamically fills instead of snapping to the next value.

Characters can now die, either by falling into one of the furnaces, or by being blown up by a bomb block. Speaking of which, the bomb block is also finished: it breaks the furnace for a while, and any player near the explosion dies. The only thing missing is the explosion particle, so its effect and range isn't visualised at the moment.

For improved player feedback, the item the player will pick up now has a highlight around it. This makes it more clear what item will be picked up.

Finally, a major bug that prevented other players to spawn in the build version has been solved. We are planning to add a pre-game player screen where all players see their character and have to press a button to ready up and start the game.

The following week we will focus on the particles, the dynamic space background, the main menu, players being shoved back when stunned and implementation of animations.
